Snow Leopard Installation Guide for ASUS Rampage II Extreme

I used this guide as a close reference to the following:

Installing OS X 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard) onto ASUS Rampage II Extreme and an Areca 1210 RAID controller as the host for the destination HDD

1.  Obtain a working Snow Leopard Machine

2.  Plug a HDD in via USB and use Disk Utility to partition it with one partition using the GUID partition table scheme.

3.  Obtain a Snow Leopard Install DVD/Image

4.  Find the application "ShowAllFiles" from the net or wherever, and run it, choosing to show all files.

5.  Browse to the SL Install DVD/Image to /System/Installation/Packages and double click on the "OSInstall.mpkg" file.

6.  Configure the installer, choosing the bare minimum.  Duh.

7.  After the installation has completed, and before rebooting, perform the following steps:

A.  Install the latest version of Cameleon

B.  Install the 10.6.2 Combo Update.  Don't reboot.

B.  Install the latest Areca RAID drivers

C.  Create the /Extra directory and the com.apple.boot.plist files and set everything up the way it should be in there…      more on that later.

D.  Make sure a good dsdt.aml exists in the root directory

E.  Find /System/Library/Extensions/IONetworkingFamily/Contents/ Plugins/AppleYukon2/Contents/info.plist and change the "436211ab" under the "Yukon-88E8053" entry to 436411ab by using sudo nano Info.plist.  Save, reboot, and append -v -f to the boot parameters.
